National Receptor Dataset Licence

I have been asked to provide the National Receptor Dataset to a contractor of an adjoining Local Authority.  I have downloaded the dataset, but I am unclear on the licencing and so cannot work out if I can provide it to them or not.  Please can someone confirm which licence the National Receptor Dataset 2014 is provided under.  The information on the webpage for the dataset goes to https://support.environment.data.gov.uk/hc/en-gb/sections/360000151077-Data-Licensing- which says that the metadata will say which licence is applicable or to contact us using the forum.

I am very confused thank you.

Good morning Sam and apologies in the delay to our response. I have contacted our colleagues who will be able to clarify this - I will get back to you as soon as it will be possible.

Best regards,

Joanna

Hi Sam, Caroline,

Thank you for your question.

Unfortunately we cannot supply data to contractors of another organisation such as a water company or a local authority.via the DSP or directly.   We licence the contracting organisation, and they need to sub-licence the data to their contractor (any legal risk is borne by the contracting organisation).

I will amend our guidance on the forum to reflect this.

I hope this helps

Hi Ella

Thank you for your response, please can you advise how the contractor of the adjoining local authority would get access to the national receptor dataset for the area of our local authority.  The adjoining local authority is not able to download the data for our area and so cannot pass it on to them under a sub-licence

Thanks Sam

Hi Sam,

When an account is set up on the DSP the area of interest is selected to that authority only, as a temporary measure we can amend the area of interest to a larger area so you should be able to download more data.

If you provide me with the details i can amend this for you.

Many thanks

Hi Ella

Thank you, I will pass this onto the adjoining authority as it is them that will need to contact you to get this changed as it is their contractor that requires the data.

Many Thanks for your assistance

Hi Ella,

I work for the adjoining authority that Sam is referring to, can you advise how I should contact you to amend the area of interest so I can download the NRD data for the neighbouring authorities?

Many thanks

Good morning Chris,

We can amend the area related to your account, that's not a problem. For this we would need to know the name of the account to apply the change to and we would need to receive from you a shapefile containing the new area needed (please note shapefile needs to be quite generic, less than 1000 vertices).

Please could you forward the shapefile and information needed to DSPcustomerforum@environment-agency.gov.uk email address.

Best regards,

Joanna
