How does one find out when data has been last updated and can one download multiple data sets at once

Hi there

I regularly need to Flood zone 2 and 3 data for a local authority. When I go into environment.data.gov.uk and go to the data in question, it doesn't tell me when it was last updated.

When I downloaded the data I also cannot see any update date on the data. Can anyone tell me how I find out when data was last updated? On the old download site, we use to have a reminder when new data was available and I think it told you when it was last updated.

I'm also not sure if it is possible to download multiple data sets at once so that everything is contained in one zip file.

Also on the main page, it says that the data is available in the data.gov.uk catalogue. However, when I go to data.gov.uk and do a search on, "Flood Map for Planning (Rivers and Sea) - Flood Zone 2" and select the publisher as the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, I get 68 results and none of them contains the data I'm after, which is Flood Map for Planning (Rivers and Sea) - Flood Zone 2

It does on this page however tell you when the data was last updated. However, that is no use if I cannot find the data.

Kind regards

Hi Tim

Thank you for your questions.

We are currently working on expanding the amount of metadata available via the Data Services Platform which will include information on when the data was last updated.

Flood Map for Planning (Rivers and Sea) - Flood Zone 2 was last updated on the 7th February 2019 and is updated quarterly.

We currently have a recently updated datasets topic within the Announcements section of the forum which will advise our customer when a dataset is updated - to receive email notifications of these updates simply click the "follow" button within the Environment Agency datasets topic  https://support.environment.data.gov.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/360000908738-Environment-Agency-datasets

The Flood Map for Planning (Rivers and Sea) dataset is published by the Environment Agency - here is a direct link to the data on data.gov.uk https://data.gov.uk/search?q=flood+map+for+planning+%28rivers+and+sea%29&filters%5Bpublisher%5D=Environment+Agency&filters%5Btopic%5D=&filters%5Bformat%5D=&sort=best

I hope this helps.

Hi Elia

Thanks for replying so quickly. That is very helpful. I thought it might be published by the Environment Agency but I didn't locate it when searching. I probably used the wrong search term at the time.

I will subscribe to the post you mention.

Incidentally, when you go to the catalogue for the flood map items, it says they were last updated on 1st April 2019 and not Feburary. I appreciate this would be an issue for the Environment Agency, rather than yourselves.

Finally, when I try to download the data using Chrome, the down site doesn't work. It loads the map but the righthand section, where one downloads the data, just seems on cycling and not bring up the download section. It may be an issue with our local install and firewall. However, it does work on Internet Explorer.

Hi Tim,

The date mentioned on data.gov.uk (1st April) refers to the date when the metadata record was updated not the actual data.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the issues using Chrome, I will look into this ASAP.

Hi Tim,

Our suppliers are currently looking into your issue using Chrome -  please can you advise on the following:

What version of Chrome you are using?

What steps used when viewing the data in Internet Explorer?

This will allow us to replicate the issue in Chrome and carry out further investigations.

Many thanks
